Says Anuya, "To be honest, I may not have clicked in Bollywood the way I have succeeded in Kollywood. Hence, I have taken a decision to do only south films."
Anuya, a gold medalist from the prestigious Pune Film Institute, says she is not bothered about her on-screen image. Besides acting in films and stage dramas, Anuya is also into teaching the art of acting.
Anuya Bhagvath, who finished her course in acting in Pune Film Institute, has acted in many tele films before entering mainstream cinema. She has also acted in renowned filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s film.
She points out how in Hindi cinema, the heroine's image is fast changing. "In Kaminey, Priyanka Chopra is pregnant before marriage. Can you imagine any of our heroines doing such a role a few years back?"
She adds that right from her early days, she wanted to be an actress, and since many people in Pune told her that she looks like a Tamilian, she decided to try her luck in Tamil films.
Although she made her debut as heroine, Anuya wants to do varied roles including villain and comedian, as she wants to make lasting impression in many roles. She also wants to learn a lot on various genres of filmmaking including technical skills.
She wants to do only one film at a time and will pick and choose her films depending on the role she is offered. "If I get a film with Suriya and a film with Sasikumar, I would love to do both the films, as long as my character is interesting. If the role demands, I do not mind turning glamorous. I personally feel it is more difficult to bring the sensual feeling and emotion on one's face than wearing revealing clothes."
